What Is the Style of Home Design in 2026?
Spoiler alert: it isn’t about what is trending in home design anymore.
What Is Trending in Home Design 2026?
The style of home design in 2026 is shifting toward soulful, wellness-centered spaces that prioritize natural materials, emotional resonance, and intentional flow.
While minimalism and organic modern continue to influence aesthetics, we’re seeing a deeper movement, one where design isn’t just about aesthetics, but about how it supports you.
Design is no longer just about appearance. It is about wellness and experience. In 2026, homeowners are craving more than just curated finishes and on-trend palettes. They want spaces that nourish the nervous system, ease the mind, and restore energy.
This shift goes beyond “calming” colors or soft textures, it’s about designing for the rhythms to support your energy in your home: grounded, clear, connected.
You’ll still see the clean lines and open layouts of modern design, but layered with deeper intention. In this next evolution, the most defining characteristics include:
- Organic Materials
Natural wood, stone, limewash, and clay bring elemental grounding to interior spaces - Holistic Home Design
Every detail, from lighting placement to cabinet layout, is designed to flow with the rhythms of daily life. - Emotional & Energetic Design Homes are being shaped not just for beauty, but for balance and nourishment, regulating energy, creating emotional clarity, and anchoring presence.
- Spiritual and Sensory Awareness Altars, grounding corners, meditation or quiet zones, and even energy clearing sessions are being integrated into design conversations.
- Biophilic Home Design According to Google’s own AI, Gemini, biophilic home design is, at its core, about connecting living spaces with nature to create a more harmonious and healthy environment
This sounds complicated or too WOO-WOO
I get this all the time! Yes, it can sound a little out there at first — especially if you’re just beginning to explore wellness as a design concept.
Take a breath. This isn’t a race. It’s a question that gently guides you forward, one choice at a time.
It’s a journey — and truly, once you begin, you’ll probably find yourself saying what all my clients say:
“You can’t make this shit up.”
(And yes, I laugh every time.)
Home Decor Trends in 2026
Home decor in 2026 isn’t about rushing to Target to fill empty shelves. We’re waking up to the fact that every material, every object, carries energy. Some of it grounds and fuels us and some of it drains.
Decor selections are becoming more thoughtful, simplistic (cue me running out to grab a dead tree branch or clip some flowers) and placing them with intent. Every thought divine, every act intentional.
Biophilic Design ideas you can incorporate
1) Natural Light
The free one. Open the windows! Natural light is one of the most powerful and accessible aspects of biophilic design. Make it a habit to raise the shades with the sunrise — and open windows whenever you can to let fresh energy flow.
2) Plants
Plants are energetic allies. They cleanse the air, uplift the mood, and add something no synthetic object ever can: life. Over time, they’ll become your little friends. (Yes, you’ll talk to them.)
3) Natural Materials
Start paying attention to what things are made of. Food, clothes, furniture — everything. Over time, you can shift toward natural fibers, woods, and stone. It won’t happen overnight, but you’ll feel the difference.
How can I make my home holistic?
For me, holistic design starts with a question, not a material. “What does your body need to feel like for you to fully exhale?” Then we create from there, layering design that supports your nervous system, flow, and daily rituals.
Rituals are a key aspect of wellness and home design. Planning thoughtful uses of the space, so that it simplifies your daily routine. Imagine having your tea station with fresh herbs and seeds all ready to create? It establishes the routine as part of the design.
What is your home trying to tell you?
This question isn’t or ever will be a simple answer. Your home grows, shifts, changes and evolves just like you do. The goal is to continue to ask the questions, connect with the resonance and grow with your home. It will continue to “mirror” back to you what you need to become aware of.
The more you listen, the more it speaks.
And if you’re willing, it will become one of your greatest teachers.
